We offer a direct and specific corneal hydration level measurement
Cornea Sense can measure hydration levels across the entire corneal surface and through all layers. This approach targets the primary changes in corneal health, offering a more precise and comprehensive assessment.
Our research behind the solution
Our solution is based on 15+ of scientific research by Zachary Taylor Group, which has pioneered submillimeter wave imaging and submillimeter wave sensing of corneal tissue water content starting with experimental work in 2009 at UCLA in a collaboration between the Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Bioengineering in the School of Engineering, and the Jules Stein Eye institute in the School of Medicine.
In 2018 the corneal sensing research group moved from UCLA to Aalto University to take advantage of the radio science competencies and capabilities. In 2023 a patent on compensation of eye movement while detecting cornea was filed (FI20237152).
